Release the Kraken!
Então, as coisas estão intensas na Fluidplay, próximo da data de lançamento do Torment, estamos correndo que nem loucos!
GameReplays.org publicou o concept do Kraken:
“Today it is time to unveil The Kraken, the final boss in Torment’s final level. The Kraken is one of, if not the most, powerful asset in Poseidon’s army. His gigantic tentacles are known to have caused mass destruction in both land and water.”
“The Kraken had his physical body turned into stone by Perseus during Andromeda’s rescue, and his hate for the hero can only be surpassed by his tremendous power. Those traits made Kraken a natural choice for Phobetor, especially considering how disturbing it is for even a son of Zeus to have to face his worst fears all over again, in this ultimate nightmare. The beastly and massive Kraken is the the final boss of the second, and supposedly unbeatable, challenge for Perseus.”
Também temos o Flamental:
“We are coming to the end of the art releases for Torment, today is the turn of the Flamental, a little-known salamander-like sea creature with flammable plasma sweat. We will soon start to release final 3D animations of the concepts, and of course some gameplay videos of Torment.”
“A little-known mythical entity, the Flamental is a salamander-like sea creature whose main characteristic is its flammable plasma sweat. Its membranes allow both easy movement underwater as well as fast flying abilities. Underwater the Flamental provides little threat, however once it rises to the surface and the plasma gets in contact with the air, the Flamental justifies its name. To perform its main attack, this exotic creature employs a fast swirling motion which forms a circle of flame in the air, accumulating speed which is released in a split second as the Flamental flies towards its prey. Flamental’s narrow flight membranes mean it cannot turn quickly, and just after its swirl-flight attack the plasma that protects its body is briefly extinguished. These are the only achilles’ heels in this formidable creature, commanded by the Kraken in Torment’s final stage.”
Para não acabar com a festa, temos também uma amostra da música do game:
“We have released something different and very special today for Torment, a 50 second sample of the music from the first stage. For those who do not know, Torment is the first game developed by FluidPlay Studios in conjunction with GameReplays.org.
FluidPlay is very lucky to have Panu Aaltio (IMDB profile) as its composer. Panu is a master composer with a lot of ‘in game’ composing experience.

What were we trying to achieve with this music?
Intense, epic and heart-pumping are the key words we had in mind when designing how the music for Torment should be. Instead of opting for the traditional “subtle background music”, we’ve opted for full-fledged orchestrated quality. Making you want to hear more as much as you want to play more is key for FluidPlay’s games.”
