Creating new brushes at Painter isn’t the same like in Photoshop. In the Adobe software we can apply textures directly in the brush, but in Corel painter, we have to place it on the canvas. But, with a few changes at Painter’s Brush Creator, we can create a new custom brush that simulates something in the way we like.
I must confess, i don’t like the Standard Painter brushes, they don’t simulate very well the real ones. But, to make things easy, let’s create a new one that simulates a better mechanical pencil.
The credits for this tutorial goes to Hector Servilia, who created a very good custom mechanical pencil brush. Then, i did some little changes to it for my taste
For this tutorial, we’ll use the Brush Creator (ctrl+b). you just need to select a pencil (the 2B one, for example) and with the Brush Creator, change the items as follows:
Then, you can save it using the “save variant” command :
Or, if you’re lazy, just pick the brush files here and put it inside Painter’s brushes folder
The, by controlling opacity, resolution and colors, you can get a lot of nice effects
And it’s enough for today
